Jeff & Courtney had a beautiful day for their Muskoka wedding, for Mid October it was really nice. The sun was so bright it just lit up the fallen leaves, giving everything intense color. Living in Canada and being able to experience and photograph throughout the seasons is just amazing. I heard on the news that people travel from all over the world just to experience Autumn in Northern Ontario. So it really is no wonder why Courtney had to have an Autumn wedding. Windermere House was closed for the season, so Jeff & Courtney’s families had full run of the resort.

I love it when couples really stay true to themselves and incorporate elements of personalities and lifestyle into their weddings.  Jeff & Courtney love camping, so they had the staff at Windermere House create a huge camp fire for guests to sit around and roast marshmallows over after the reception. It was really important to Courtney & Jeff that we get their families hanging out by the fire and everyone playing with sparklers during their camp fire reception. This year we have been really, really happy with the locations our awesome clients have chosen for their weddings and engagement sessions. We love Muskoka, and all the little towns and resorts that reside in it. This year we have covered a lot of ground up North. We photographed weddings at The Inn at Christie’s Mill, Inn at the Falls Bracebridge, 2 weddings at Taboo Resort, an engagement session at Muskoka Wharf and Grace & Speed, and now an engagement session at Windermere House.

Jeff & Courtney decided to have their engagement session at the same location as their wedding. Usually when we tell couples to choose a place that means something to them for their engagement photos, we don’t usually mean the same place they are getting married. But Jeff  & Courtney assured us that there was lots of places to shoot, and that we should just come and see it for ourselves.  They were more than accurate, Windermere House is so beautiful! It reminds me of the East Coast of Canada. Big white wooden houses, on the water. Windermere House was built in 1870. Its so charming and quiet. You really feel like you are the only people in the town (it is a very small town so that could be true) I hear summers are very busy.

It rained on Jeff & Courtney’s engagement session, but we all toughed it out long enough to see the sun break through.
