Every once in a while we get the great opportunity to work with a couple who has an idea for their engagement photos. Sometimes its something as simple as visiting a location that means something to them, like going to the place where they first met. Other times we get a blank slate, and the chance to make up an idea from scratch. When our friends Allison & Chris got engaged they texted us this photo of the two of them, in bed, with the ring on and messy bedhead hair and these crazy excited expressions on their faces. It was totally them! When they asked us to be their wedding & engagement photographers, it was a true honour, and it was an amazing opportunity. We knew that these two would be game for anything, and in the weeks after their official engagement they started planning the wedding. I talked to Allison almost every day about her wedding plans, and location ideas, and how awesome it was all going to be, but as someone who enjoys the darker side of humour, at the end of each conversation I would tell her that she should just elope. We would both just laugh it off because Allison, Ryan and I are wedding photographers and Chris often moonlights as one. I would joke that we should just go to Vegas this weekend and get this show on the road. Ryan piped up one evening and said “Why not make your engagement session Vegas themed, and do a fun, fake elopement.” Allison and I being the planners we are immediately storyboarded a plan for a Niagara Falls engagement session with an elopement theme, a story of a regular couple who wins a bit of cash at a casino and decides to get married on a whim. The photos below tell that story.
When two people like Allison & Chris come together its magic! Their personality as a couple draws people to together, so it doesn’t matter if their wedding day happens in a beautiful art gallery or in the lobby of a cheesy Niagara hotel officiated by a really bad Elvis impersonator, their love is the same. Its the strong type, that is often overbearing because it cares so much. The kind of love that makes everyone want to cheer them on. We can honestly, and without reservations say that these two are meant to be together, and we are lucky to have them as friends.
Congratulations on your engagement to two of the coolest cats we know! We are thrilled to be your wedding photography team.
Cheers, your friends,
& Ryan
P.S-Â Now before I sign off, I just want to give a little shout out to Allison’s dad, and mention again that this wedding is a total fake, and that when you walk your daughter down the aisle this spring, it will in fact be her “first wedding”.. Â that we know of (see that dark humour creeping in there ;).
