We love hearing about couples who met at weddings. Kristi & Chris met at a wedding and then went as each others date to a different wedding. Finally they got to experience a wedding from the other side, as the bride and groom. Early in the summer they were married lakeside at the historic Windermere House, in Muskoka, Canada. It is hard to not fall head over heels for this venue. It is classic Muskoka at its best. The giant white house on the hill, with its memorable striped awnings and long line of white Muskoka chairs that peer out towards the lake. You could sit there all day and just watch the boats come in, and the weekenders who stop by for lunch. This venue is a piece of history and you really feel it come alive during wedding season.
Kristi & Chris opted for a “first look” and to some couples a first look ruins the surprise, and for others like these two, it makes for some truly genuine moments. Their first look was simply beautiful, and emotional. Each time I, as the photographer, the innocent bystander, look at their photos it takes me back to that day and that emotional moment. So I can only imagine that Kristi and Chris feel these images on a much deeper level. Their first look didn’t ruin a thing, Chris still teared up when Kristi walked down the aisle, and they both got a little emotional during their vows. After their first look, we headed to their little rental cottage across the street from Windermere House for portraits. The cottage was adorable, country style with white paneled walls and ceiling, and surrounded by lush greenery. Their ceremony was set out on the back lawn, under the warm sun and over looking Lake Muskoka. Family portraits followed the ceremony, and Kristi has just about the biggest family ever! When she said to us that she needed a photo of her entire family, almost half the  guests gathered. There was barely anyone at the bar when they left so the wait staff served drinks and hors d’ouerves to the line up of family members waiting to get their photos taken. It was a day filled with lots of laughs, happy tears, clinking of glasses and good times.
Thank you & congratulations to Kristi & Chris for choosing us to capture your Muskoka wedding.
Cheers
& Ryan
P.S- Be sure to scroll down through the entire post and see photos of their first look. My absolute favorite photo is when they both started to tear up. Get’s me every time.
