I have been photographing cancer survivors for a number of years, starting with supporting families in the Ronald McDonald House to working at Sick Kids. Recently I have been doing work with Gildas Club of Barrie to raise funds, through a calendar that celebrates the stories of people dealing with cancer. You can find a copy of the calendar here: https://gildasclubsimcoemuskoka.org/events/raw-reflective/
This session was organized to show a connection, in this case between the couple Margie and David. They have been the rock for each other, both having struggled through cancer together at different times, the good that came of this hardship was how strong their bond became, the love they have for one another.
I look at Margie and David as inspiration for what it is to be a couple, to have the strength for one another in their most vulnerable times. This is what seeing the big picture in a relationship is about, this too shall pass, love one another.
Here are some photos from the session, taken on their sail boat, a comfortable place and beautiful setting for teamwork and connection between the two of them.
