Fairmont Royal York Wedding - Rowell Photography

Last month we had the honour of photographing John & Christian’s Fairmont Royal York wedding. We have known this gorgeous couple for several years now, John is our hairstylist and did all the hair and makeup at our wedding as well as numerous photo shoots for our clients. Long before Christian asked John to marry him we actually did a couples photo shoot of them. They were married on the 19th floor of the Royal York Hotel, surrounded by their closest friends and family. We loved how thoughtful and personalized every detail was. The invites were hand made by the grooms. John designed their bands and made the wedding cake. Their menus even had a photo of them on it from their couples shoot with us! Both Christian and John wore custom made kilts from one of our favorite Scottish shoppes Burnett’s and Struth Scottish Regalia. But the most unique detail I have ever seen at a wedding in all of our nearly 10 years of photographing couples in love was the Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Rose. Yup! That’s right, they actually had a rose suspended in the air, inside a glass case just like the rose in the Disney movie. Christian loves this movie and just thought it was romantic and beautiful. With the help of Victoria Potter from Posh Beyond there was a real life version standing next to a framed portrait of the couple on the gift table.

After the ceremony the bridal party headed to Toronto’s Historic Distillery District for wedding party photos. Shortly after we headed to the rooftop garden at the Royal York for some couples shots. It was a truly magical day. We are so excited to show off this wedding on our blog. Christian and John, you two were absolutely handsome in your kilts, but the most beautiful part of the day was witnessing the happiness you both bring to one another and everyone around you.
