Not too long ago a very excited couple called about their Killarney Lodge wedding in Algonquin Park, they said it was too be very small and intimate. Its not too often that we get the chance to photograph a very small wedding ceremony, or as far North as Algonquin so when we heard this we practically had our bags packed! Diane & David’s Killarney Lodge wedding/elopement ceremony was so very picturesque. With the backdrop of Algonquin Park and gorgeous lake views in nearly every direction their wedding was intimate, beautiful and felt by all those who had the opportunity to witness the love between these two amazing people. Presided over by our very good friend Amber Lukasavich, officiant, and attended by the brides sister and brother in law, wedding vows were exchanged on a rocky peninsula under a blue sky. Shortly after the ceremony we photographed the newlyweds in the Killarney Lodge gardens and on the water in a little boat. We are so thankful that Diane was willing to write a few words for us and some advice to couples who are considering an intimate wedding.
What was the best thing about having an intimate wedding?
The natural setting was perfect – the full moon rising over the lake, the call of the loon, the perfect weather, the smell of the pine trees, the stunning sunrise – the whole ambiance. And after many years of camping in Algonquin Park, we finally heard the wolves howling. It didn’t have the whirlwind usually associated with bigger weddings. We were truly mindful of every moment. It was pure romance.Diane
What advice do you have for couples who are considering an intimate wedding?
Once you make the decision, stick with it. There should be no expectations. It should mirror who you are as a couple. Also, make sure you get a photographer. We had originally said we would have my sister Cathy and brother in law Gary take some photos. But we wanted them to experience the ceremony fully. Choosing Rowell Photography was one of the best decisions we made. and Ryan are not only amazing at their craft but genuinely sweet people to work with. They made us feel relaxed and the time spent with them went by too quickly. And thanks to Ryan’s hidden talent, Dave’s tie and pocket square were stellar!Diane
Congratulations Diane & David! We are happy to have been apart of your special day. Thank you for choosing us to capture this amazing time in your lives.
Cheers
& Ryan
