Planning a wedding and choosing to cut down your guest list is a daunting task, inevitably it can be the some of the most important decisions of the entire wedding process. Sometimes sacrificing heads at a table can mean a bigger allotment of the budget to be put towards things you really want. Maybe you want a more customized menu or perhaps a smaller and more intimate location. But when you choose to have a smaller guest list something quite magical happens, and its something that only photos can describe. In our experience the couples who host a smaller wedding often have the chance to mingle and chat with more of their friends and family, and joke around, dance, cheers, and genuinely spend time with the most important people in their lives on the most important day of their lives.
Norm and Keiko’s wedding at Propeller Coffee in Toronto was close to their neighbourhood, they were surrounded by less than 100 of their closest friend and family. Keiko is from Japan so her family could not make the trip so their wedding party was in charge of making sure that her family could watch the party happen live via skype and be apart of the day. The bridal party even carried an ipad down the aisle so the family at home could virtually be apart of every aspect of the day. Often ipads and iphones were propped up on tables for guests to wave to her family and chat with them. It brought a whole new level of communication to the wedding. Norm and Keiko are a fun, happy go lucky couple in love and with a tight group of friends, they often created large funny group photos that included all their guests. Not something so easily achieved with 100+ guest lists. But for us as photographers, what made this day truly special for us was the candidness and sheer happiness expressed by Norm & Keiko. From their first look where Norm waited on the Toronto Subway platform for Keiko to arrive off the train, right down to their own choreographed first dance. The night was full of amazing moments that we were so honoured to capture.
Congratulations Norm & Keiko!
Cheers
& Ryan
