Over the years it has become apparent to us that Muskoka holds a very special place in the hearts of our clients. It is so much more than gorgeous lakeside property and impressive boats gliding across sparkling water. For many families we have had the privilege to photograph, Muskoka is the place where they have built a legacy, a place where in most cases they have laid roots for over a hundred years of family. Muskoka comes calling every spring, and its hard to say no to a beauty like this. People have been partying on docks, commuting by boat, dining at resorts, and making memories there for ages. When a family asks us to come to their cottage and capture their portraits, event, or just a summers day with their family; we are more than eager to to oblige because we know how special a place it is and how much it means to each family.
25 years ago Doug & Carolyn were married aboard the RMS Segwun Steamship on Lake Muskoka. Surrounded by their children, friends and family. They boarded the classic Muskoka steamship in Gravenhurst, Ontario and even customized their tour by requesting a special stop along the way for all the kids to get off the ship at their family cottage dock. From there the boat toured around the lake well into the night with just the adults. A moment everyone kid remembered, and because of that for this 25th anniversary the Seqwun detoured past the old cottage again. Emotions were running high as 4 generations of family gathered on deck and waved across the lake to the cottages new owners, who lit off fireworks (In the middle of the day) from the back porch of the cottage, in celebration as the ship passed by. A whole new generation of kids now have memories of of Muskoka.
Congratulations to Doug & Carolyn!
Cheers & Ryan
P.S- You can rent a classic Muskoka steamship for your wedding or a family event like the one below. There are not many places in Ontario where that is a possibility. If you visiting Muskoka this summer check out the classic boat museum Grace & Speed in Gravenhurst and online Real Muskoka.
