Jodey & Adam were married last month at Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club, just outside of Barrie, Ontario. Luca & Allison photographed this gorgeous wedding, and kicked off the day with the bride and grooms first look. For those of you who are not sure just what a “first look” or “reveal” on a wedding day is, it is when the bride and groom see one another before the ceremony for the first time. Believe it or not, this is not new, and actually is a wedding day tradition in so many other cultures. A long time ago this first look would literally be that, the first time the bride and groom laid eyes on one another, and in a fun twist on old traditions the first look Jodey & Adam did was the first time he saw her in her wedding dress. There are so many benefits to seeing one another before the big walk down the aisle. For some couples, nerves can get the best of them, even to coolest couples get a little nervous performing for the crowd. The first look helps elevate some of that pressure. We encourage couples to take a few photos before the ceremony together that way when they walk up the aisle they don’t have tunnel vision, and they can relax and acknowledge the guests who came to share the ceremony with them.
You might think, that having a first look will ruin the grooms reaction to seeing the bride come down the aisle for the first time, but it certainly doesn’t have to. We purposely posted extra photos for the first look and Adam’s reaction to Jodey and her father walking down the aisle. I know you all will agree with us when we say that Adam’s reaction is genuine and so filled with emotion, even after seeing her at the first look. We hope these two inspire you to do a first look at your wedding. Not only does it give you that little extra time to connect with one another before the ceremony but it also gives you more time to enjoy your photography, your ceremony and cocktail reception.
Congratulations to Adam & Jodey! You both looked like a million bucks on your Tangle Creek wedding day! We wish you all the best in your new life as husband and wife.
Cheers
& Ryan
