A few years back Angela was a bridesmaid at a wedding we photographed in Oshawa, On. so when we received a phone call from Angela and Lindsay asking us to photograph their wedding we were so thrilled. Lindsay & Angela are high school sweethearts and two of the nicest, warmest people we know. Their wedding was held in Glen Nevis, Ontario near Cornwall at a venue that was virtually unknown to us.
The Abbey for the Arts is a hidden gem! The venue is one of the most unique properties we have ever been to for an Ontario wedding. Its a stunning abbey once lived in by nuns, the building itself is a work of art, and the rooms inside are adorned with an amazing collection of local photography from the turn of the century. Just down the street, is another great, unknown site for photographers to check out. Saint Raphael’s Ruins. A huge cathedral church that was nearly burnt to the ground has now been restored on the outside with paths and gardens throughout the interior where church benches once were. We could not believe how amazing these venues were. There was so much opportunity for great images, we could have stayed there all day!
Later on in the evening we took Lindsay and Angela out again for a few night time portraits in the cemetery beside the Abbey. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to see some of our favorite portraits from the day.
Congratulations to Lindsay & Angela! Thank you so much for having us as apart of The Abbey for the Arts wedding day.
Cheers
& Ryan
On the right, is a pic of one of the brides Lindsay in the bell from the old church. The bell is only half of what it used to be after burning in the fire. Lindsay still fit.
This is one of my favorite shots of the day. I have never caught a couple stealing a kiss over the head table before. What a great moment.
