Kurtis & Emma’s album was just sent to print, so it is about time I share with you the lovely Muskoka wedding we photographed for this couple. Emma & Kurtis are real globetrotters, they are always traveling throughout Europe because Kurtis plays professional hockey in the Russian hockey league (KHL) and this year he is playing for the Siberian team Metallurg Novokuznetsk. I love that our couples come from all walks of life. Emma is from Finland and they actually met when Kurtis played for a Finnish team a few years back. The coolest thing we have done lately is do a wedding design album skype session with them from Canada to Siberia.
On a beautiful, and hot summer day Emma & Kurtis tied the knot at Rocky Crest Resort in Muskoka surrounded by friends and family from all over the world. They were married on the docks over looking Lake Joseph with their reception following in the tent later that evening. All floral and decor is by the one and only Rachel A. Clingen Wedding and Event Design. At nearly every wedding we have the pleasure and privilege of photographing there always seems to be something that connects everyone, sometimes its an impromptu dance started by the bride and groom that gets every guest on the dance floor and others times there is a song that every single person seems to know the words too. It never fails, there is always some small event during the night that unites the crowd, and at around 11pm someone randomly yelled something to the effect of “PLAY We didn’t start the fire!!!” within seconds the dance floor filled up and through the trees, in the quiet of Muskoka rang out the lyrics (which I might add are a challenge to learn) to Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Star the Fire. Everyone seemed to know this song, and it got everyone on their feet. It was a great end to a great wedding.
Congratulations and thank you for Emma & Kurtis for choosing us as your photography team, and for working around time zones with us to complete your beautiful wedding album. It has been an absolute pleasure to have met you both.
Cheers
& Ryan
